Designed by EJE, a sculpture surmounting a new roundabout within the Glendale Interchange was recently unveiled. Like many significant artworks, the piece has attracted some lively public discussion! The large scale artwork, comprised of three intertwining rings between 12m and 18m diameter, makes reference to the interconnection of Glendale and Cardiff. EJE & Lyons Architecture’s NeW Space project took a leap forward last week with the dramatic installation of the steel “mega-truss” to the north east-facade. The Development Application for EJE’s “Interchange Apartments” building was recently approved by Newcastle City Council. This is the first DA approval for a mid-rise residential apartment building in the Wickham area. Adjacent to the future Wickham Transport Interchange and at the western gateway to the city centre, the proposal will provide 32 new residential apartments above ground floor retail, with views to the harbour and city skyline.
