Controversy on the high seas this week as EJE took part in the BLASE yacht race, an annual competition between local Builders, Lawyers, Architects, Surveyors and Engineers organised by the Newcastle Division of the Australian Institute of Architects. Setting off from the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club on Wednesday afternoon, EJE “crewed” the 43′ Anger Management, a strong favourite for this year’s title with its superior speed and disciplined sailors. The pursuit-style start off the north head of the harbour saw the teams dash for a two lap sprint up the Stockton Bight, with the chivalrous team from EJE giving their competitors a hearty head start; which as it turned out also resulted in a healthy defeat. The sailors returned to land humbled, but keen for another shot at the title next year. Thanks to the AIA, NCYC, Anger Management, and event sponsors Dulux and James Hardie for a great day out!
