permitting. Club members are also actively involved in environmental and
community activities which directly or otherwise affect the sport of SCUBA

The Administrative Appeal Tribunal (AAT), called a last
minute halt to the scuttle after an injunction by he No ships group from Avoca
had managed to gain the ear of the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) with
little or no evidence.
A
hearing will be held by the AAT on the 5th ,6th and 7th
of May , with the decision sometime after that.
We
trust sense will prevail and the protest groups will recognise that the
clean-up work has been done professionally and that their fears for the surf
and beach at Avoca are unfounded.
We at BWAC implore you to e-mail Minister Kelly to show your support for the Adelaide being scuttled off Terrigal/Avoca in the planned site asap. Minister Kelly would have been bombarded by e-mails from the No-ships Group. Now WE MUST DO THE SAME!
The e-mail address to send your supportive comments to is planning@lpma.nsw.gov.au
Put in the title of the e-mail something like - Support for
the Adelaide project
THANKS in advance!
Our
marine environment is under many genuine threats from the land and from the
coal, fishing and other industries. BWAC have even tried in our small way to
clean up marine environment and have seen first hand the devastation pollution
can bring. A group like the EDO that falsely cries wolf, risks loosing
credibility and the support of a community it should be supporting, not
alienating.
Let’s
clean the mud off quickly and get active in letting others know the pessimists
are wrong.
