Hunters Wharf, Breakfast Point
Hunters Wharf, Stage 5E of the Breakfast Point redevelopment project is located on the foreshore of Kendall Bay and is sited to enjoy the adjacent active waterfront and city skyline views.
The development is a mixture of two, three and five storey buildings that take advantage of the sloping site topography to hide the basement carparking, allowing the residential development to touch the ground with a combination of communal access space and private landscape courtyards.
The proposed landscape builds on the desired future character and optimises useability, privacy and social interaction.
The street front aspect of the development retains an urban context to the future developments at Breakfast Point. Apartments are arranged so that design principles such as cross flow ventilation, orientation to maximise natural light and careful selection of construction materials and appliances ensure a high standard of environmental performance and management.
The development strongly represents the imagery of Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River. The cues for the massing and articulation of the development are taken from traditional wharf buildings located in and around the Harbour.
The development provides a major public access route through the site to connect the street with the waterfront, creating a catalyst for a transformation of the former industrial waterfront to a publicly accessible waterfront recreation space.
Equitable access has been given particular attention in both public areas and private access areas within the development.
