South West Rocks Country Club
This project, won in a design competition, was for the combining of the South West Rocks Golf Club with Bowling and Sports Club providing for one centralised and up to date facility for the whole community. The building use natural lighting, good solar orientation (main lounge areas and outdoor terraces face north) and passive ventilation to reduce energy use. The building is built up over the carpark with the soaring roof of the Porte-Cochere providing a stunning visual arrival point. The raising of the main floor of the club also allows for views over the dune to the ocean, hinterland, South West Rocks town ship and adjacent golf course. The building also incorporates efficiencies of design with one centralised bar area serving multiple lounges, bistro areas and function rooms.
