From early 2020, the former Civic Station building will become the new home for the City of Newcastle’s official Visitor Information Centre, with an exciting internal fit-out designed by EJE Architecture. The centre is anticipated to attract an average of 6,500 visitors per month, and will provide new smart technologies to aid the visitor experience, in addition to expert staff, tourist information and retail offerings. The new facility’s location is ideally situated in proximity to the city’s civic centre, cultural attractions and the upcoming Kinglsey Hotel, and is surrounded by the new Museum Plaza landscape space, currently being completed by the Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation.
The fit-out design allows interpretation of the building’s former railway function, as well as Newcastle’s physical topography with innovative custom linings and fixtures.
