Recently submitted to Council was EJE’s “Interchange Apartments” building. Adjacent to the future Wickham Transport Interchange and at the western gateway to the city center, the proposal will provide 32 new residential apartments above ground floor retail, with views to the harbour and city skyline.
The building has a striking appearance, with the use of a fragmented composite panel façade morphing out of the carpark entry & peeling away to expose the commercial tenancy, activating the street frontage below. Interpretive artwork has been incorporated in the facade, nodding to the context of the local area and Hunter region. Landscape design by Terras Landscape Architects includes green courtyards and planters at the ground level, and above the street across the building’s podium and balconies.
