Q Building Achieves 6 Star Green Star Rating

Congratulations to Director Anthony Furniss and his team, including Joshua Evans, on achieving a certified 6 star Green Star rating for The University of Newcastle’s Q Building- the first of its kind in regional New South Wales. The building features energy and water efficient fittings, 104 solar panels, 20kL rainwater capture volume, 258 individually controllable Sage Glass electrochromic glass façade panels – the largest installation in the southern hemisphere- runs on 100% renewable energy and maintained a 96% recycling rate during construction. With this milestone, the university is well on their way to achieving carbon neutrality by 2025. 🍃

Congratulations to everyone involved on this astounding project including Alumni from The University of Newcastle, embedded in head contractor Hansen Yuncken, sustainability consultant WSP, project manager APP and engineers Northrop, Aecom and Aurecon. 🙌
