Claremont House

Newcastle, NSW

Claremont House is the oldest intact Victorian Georgian residence in Newcastle and as such is unique within Newcastle’s CBD. After the 1989 Newcastle earthquake, EJE Architecture led the restoration of the building and adapted its use for the Newcastle Club to dining and accommodation purposes. The building retains its original masonry, windows, doors, cedar joinery staircase and fireplaces, all of which have been beautifully restored. EJE also successfully integrated modern services invisibly in to the building fabric to ensure its continued use and protection.
