Terrigal Public School

Central Coast, NSW

This project constituted a major upgrade of the existing school, providing 10 new permanent teaching spaces and a new Administration area. The upgrade works also provided an opportunity to formalise and improve the Main Entry which was of major interest to the school. The works also improved and enhanced the connection of spaces, better defining external play spaces and elevating the school’s facilities in line with the DoE’s Education Facilities Standards and Guidelines (EFSG).

The new Administration component of the new 2 storey building allowed for the school to meet Core 28 spatial requirements, and to implement Department of Education security demarcation protocols, which was previously not possible with an internal Admin location. The 10 new permanent Home-bases and associated Makerspace, Withdrawals and Breakouts were designed to provide flexibility for future focussed and collaborative educational approaches. The building provided multilevel linkages to existing adjoining buildings enhancing the Campus circulation. Landscape design was included in the project with an enhanced School entry from roadway to new Administration. The new building allowed the removal of multiple demountables and returned the area to recreational outdoor space. The project was delivered within an occupied school over a 12 month build programme.
