Scenic Tours Global Head Office

July 25, 2016DFWNews

Wednesday the 13th July marked the official opening of Scenic Tours and Luxury Cruises new Global head office at 25 Watt Street, Newcastle. The project involved the comprehensive renovation and addition of 2 levels to a 1960’s office building originally built for Eagle Insurance. The clients brief was for a building and fitout that would be representative of the level of finish that guests would experience on one of their tour packages, as well as to provide a high level of amenity to their staff. A complete new double glazed façade incorporating clean classic lines and proportions envelopes a warm palette of sandstone, timber, marble and white plasterboard. Black has been used to stunning effect from the external and

internal glazing framing, to the light fittings, workstations and tapware, but by far the most striking “Black” element is the lining of the core of the building in “Black Ice” a gloss composite panel that reflects and enhances the other materials around it. Ground floor is the client reception area with finishes, materials and furniture reflective of those found on the river cruise ships. A separate office entry is delineated through an arbour of recycled hardwood beams. Levels 1-4 house the general office areas whilst Level 5 contains the executive meeting room which will be used for board meetings as well as client product launches. Level 5 opens onto an expansive roof terrace with harbour views.

We are booked for the Japan tour in March. To me Tokyo is much much more attractive with night lights than by day. I know that we have a night cruise, however are there any organised night walks, or train travel from the station near our hotel to eg the robot, the buddist lanten, neon signs, observatories at night, Japanese bars, great places to photograph. Do we have safes in our rooms to safegard spare lenses & valuables?
